Star Tribune Spadea

For this year’s Star Tribune Spadea, I designed both the full-color front panel and the black-and-white interior ads with storytelling in mind. The front-facing ad served as a vibrant, eye-catching invitation to the festival, capturing its creative energy and community spirit while sharing essential event details. Inside, we took a more personal approach with our presenting sponsor ads—especially with Pacy Erck’s feature. Instead of just a logo, we shared her story and long-standing connection to Edina’s K-9 program to highlight the deeper impact of community partnerships. This shift toward narrative-based sponsor content allowed us to create a more meaningful connection with readers and celebrate the people behind the support!

For this spread, we wanted to highlight the heart of the festival—our artists. The article, written by our Chamber President, gave us the chance to spotlight our 2024 Best of Show and Award of Merit recipients, sharing their stories and creative processes in a more personal way. On the facing page, we featured our sponsor ads in a clean, cohesive layout that still gave each partner strong visibility. Together, the two pages balanced storytelling and community support.
